Re: heating help
Without an accurate thermometer and hygrometer to measure the temperature and humidity, there is no way of knowing the conditions inside the tank. The substrate will always feel cooler than the air temperature, but as long as your air temp is good, the sub will be appropriate. A digital thermometer...

insulated heating
I got a new heating pad, and I was wondering if it was possible to insulate it with the tin foil + cardboard method? https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/812Sg9AMsDL._AC_SL1500_.jpg (this isnt the gallon size that i have but this is the brand im using) And if so, do I put the tin foil or...

Best calcium sand brand + broken small claw
One of my hermits has been very lethargic lately, and I think I found out the reason why! The bottom half of his small claw is missing, so I think he hasnt been eating as much as he should. I was wondering if calcium sand would be easier for him to get that key nutrient and if so, is there any brand...

Re: Is this a good uth brand?
Not familiar with that particular brand so I’m no help there, but... Sub should be 6” deep or 3x as deep as your largest crab. Size of tank itself doesn’t matter. I say the more sub the better as long as you still have room on top for climbs! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk oh yeah i forgot abou...

Is this a good uth brand?
so i desperately need a new heating pad since I live in a very cold state, but ultratherm/flukers is sold out. (at least, for my price range and tank size) Ive been looking through amazon for quite some time and this brand seems to be the only one i can find for my price range/size https://www.amazo...

Re: Need help figuring out how to warm tank up
There are Ultra Therm Heaters on reptilebasics.com that are under $30 and work very well, but for insulation, you can try draping their tank with blankets for the winter. For humidity, you can get some moss cheap at the store and spray it with warm water, and try to seal off your tank as much as po...

Need help figuring out how to warm tank up

Re: Fruit jelly question
Ah ok! Ill use it for my leopard gecko and give my hermits an apple slice insteadcurlysister wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 9:34 pmPersonally, I would not be comfortable with all the added colors and artificial flavors. And it would have very little nutritional value, given that the first three ingredients and sugar and water.

Fruit jelly question
So at the pet store today, I found these 70 cent little coffee creamer pot sized food items called "Komodo Jelly Pot" I bought it on impulse because honestly, its small and cute and I thought hey why not its cheap. But I just wanted to make 100% SURE that its completely safe for my hermits since i a...

Yogurt?
Odd question, I know dairy and yogurt is fine-ish for hermits, but i was wondering if a certain brand- Yoplait was safe? Ive been enjoying them alot lately and wanted to share with my shelly kids!
And if so, what kind would be the most safest? Im assuming mostly plain vanilla and the fruity kinds.

Re: I have yellow mushrooms growing in my coco fiber. ARE THEY SAFE TO LEAVE IN THE TANK?
Those look like leucocoprinus birnbaumii. Theyre common in house plant soils. I would remove them though as their wiki pages says “The fruit body is mildly poisonous, if consumed in large quantities.” Just to be on the safe side!
