Re: Crabs not fully in substrate?
#1 rule in crabbing....NEVER DIG 1) What does your substrate consist of? IMO, for purple pinchers substrate, (playsand mixed with eco earth 5:1 ratio), should be 6 inches or 3 times the height of your largest crab (whichever is deeper). If you have Es substrate should be at least 10-12”. Substrate ...

Crabs not fully in substrate?
Hellloooo!!! I have 3 crabbies (missing 1 idk where it went) who are on the surface but they haven’t dug to go down into the substrate. For the most part they just stay still. 1. this is normal? Usually my crabbies would go dig all the way into the substrate and would come up once in a while. Lately...

Re: Crabitat garden?
Oh yes, my crabs love worm castings! Back in the summer, I bought a big 5 lb bag off of Amazon. I'll probably be set with that for the next 2 years lol. The castings I got were moist (like potting soil in a bag). So I've been air drying them out. I may just pop the castings in the oven to finish dr...

Re: Crabitat garden?
OMGosh...you must get some for your crabbies!!! They will love you for it! I keep a dish of worm castings in each of my tanks at all times! :) It's basically worm poop! I looked it up! Do they eat it? I just looked in the tank and their pellets had mold on it. I threw away the whole dish and put in...

That’s so neat! Did you use soil or substrate?CrabbyLover77 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 11:44 amI grew mine in a separate dish outside of the tank. Then popped them in for the crabs to munch on. They seemed to enjoy it!

Little thin clear strands!?
Was looking at my crabitat and where a crab dug himself a spot there are thin “string” like things coming off the substrate. What could this be? How does bacteria growth look like in a crabitat?

Re: New mom and questions
You can move any shells or anything just laying on the surface. If there's heavy decorations, or anything pushed down in the sand, you'll want to leave those. Moving them can collapse tunnels. You can add the substrate around anything you can't move. [emoji4] Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapa...

Re: New mom and questions
I couldn't guarantee it, but it's likely. If they've already went under to molt, they won't come back up, and you can't dig or move ornaments around. You can only add 1" of sub per day, and not pack it down. The heat still needs to be raised even if they are molting or under to destress. Hope this ...
