Re: Does filtered water from my fridge work as freshwater?

even if its coming from a filter, it still needs a water conditioner. The water conditioner acts to bind and neutralize any chlorine/ammonia/heavy metals i believe (description may be a bit off as this is off the top of my head but the point still stands) that the filter absolutely cannot get. These...

Re: Dead hermie smell disappeared?

Thankfully fine to my knowledge, back at school but we did the digging tuesday night. my mom watches their behaviors to let me know if anything weird is going on and everyone had just gone down within about the last week or so before i came home, and we saw no exo's so I think we just caused some st...

Re: Dead hermie smell disappeared?

Hi! it was actually me you helped out! we never did figure out the source of the smell. I actually just came here to post and ask what people thought it could be. I was so terrified to dig up my crabs, it is not something I wanted to do at all. I was very very stressed that I could cause a bacterial...

Re: Limb Regrowth

Him being messed with actually really adds up- bug and hotpocket went down within about a day of each other and then bug resurfaced about 2/3 days after hotpocket, so there could have easily been a run in between them. Thank you so much, I’m definitely gonna keep an eye on him! Sent from my iPhone u...

Limb Regrowth

Hey guys, long time no see! I’ve had my crabs coconut and bug since nov. of last year and hotpocket since around February. When I got Bug he didn’t have his largest claw and he still doesn’t. He’s also shown no signs of regrowth. I’m not even 100% sure he’s molted (mainly due to the lack of regrowth...

Re: Moldy Moss

I had the same problem with mine. It turned out my issue was that since my container is buried in the sub, there’s no ventilation. That plus wet moss is the perfect home for mold growth. If I’m being totally honest in my situation I never really “fixed” it, I just removed the moldy moss and put in d...

Re: My Crabitat is kinda smelly. Please, tips!

You might need to take your crabs out if possible, I haven’t dealt with one myself but a rotting smell can be a sign of a bacterial bloom

Re: Contaminated or Noxious Substrate?????

I totally get your concern, but if nothing is visibly wrong with the substrate or nothing smells wrong then it is most likely fine. The weird behavior could honestly just be them finding a new favorite spot, or that they feel their preferred way to destress is to climb. I’m not an expert but that wo...

Re: Appropriate stand for crabitat & more?

Thank you so much for your reply! Yeah it's adding the water that really makes me nervous. I'm so a total newbie, so having TOO much EE might get me into trouble and I won't know it? Can I ask, do you leave the EE bricks whole and then drizzle water over them - then break them up, etc? Or do you br...

Re: How many different shell sizes?

Naplesseashell company has very good prices, I’d suggest buying a variety, but unfortunately it’s difficult to buy the shells until you know the size of your crabs. Anywhere from 1/2inch - 1inch of openings may be good depending on how big the crabs are.

Re: Appropriate stand for crabitat & more?

I can’t comment on the rest of this since my tank is just a 20 gal, but to mix up my sub I actually ended up going heavier on EE than sand. It doesnt have to be perfectly 5:1 by any means, the crabs just need to be able to safely tunnel with the sub being a sandcastle consistency. I probably have a ...
