Re: SOUTH CAROLINA: Two purple pinchers needing home
Willing to drive 45 minutes.
I will provide supplies and the tank with the crabs.
They are not injured and have not had prior diseases.
I got them from PetSmart. I still have the documentation.

Re: Moisture Vs Humidity
Thanks for all the input! I’ve always managed to keep air humidity up but never knew to keep substrate wet enough to dig. Once I began doing so, my crabs have been so active! I’m not sure how to keep doing this with a molter, if wetting the substrate will disrupt tunnels or not? Either way, I’m happ...

Re: Hermit Crabs won't touch new substrate with Play Sand in it
Same thing happened to me. I’m going to switch back to just coconut fiber because I haven’t seen them dig down in a while. Also, they never used to surface sleep and now that’s all they do!!!

Moisture Vs Humidity
Hi! My 3 purples and I have moved from a much colder climate, requiring heat pads and 3x daily tank sprays, to not needing extra heat and natural humidity at about 80%. My question is: the substrate is very dry although the air humidity is not. I want to make sure the substrate (mix of play sand and...

Picture/video flash
Hi! I haven’t been able to find a solid answer on whether flash is harmful to crabs, rather than opinion. Has anyone found research on this? I like to take pictures and very rarely take videos, with flash, of my crabs. They never seem bothered by the light, but I’m not sure if they’re stunned (which...

Adding substrate
Hi! I wanted to add substrate and rearrange my crabitat… I haven’t seen one of my Caribbean’s in a while, which means he might be molting.. However, I would be doing this during the day either way. So, is it safe for me to add substrate if the crabs are under? I don’t want to disrupt any tunnels and...

Glass
Any ideas on how to clean the tank glass without any harmful products? Over time it gets water spots which make my crabs less visible. I’ve tried water and paper towel, but it doesn’t work… Xo

Polished shells
I’ve exhausted my options for unpolished shells. Are polished shells that are not painted safe for hermies?
Looked at all the sources on this page and can’t find any of my crabs’ size that aren’t polished.
Thanks

Re: Hermit crab always hiding
Hi! Sounds like your crabitat is set up nicely. Do you have a hygrometer/thermostat? Do you know if your hermie is resting by a heat pad? My hermies used to hang out outside of their shells near a heat pad because of hot spots within the tank. The easier way I fixed this was putting them near a hous...
