Re: A few questions
To reduce the humidity, increase the ventilation - so if you lid is sealed, don't have it fully sealed, vent it a bit. You can do either, whole or chopped. They use their pinchers to tear up food into little pieces. Hey Curly, Okay would it be okay to drill small holes in the tops for ventilation? ...

Re: New Owner
I saw you got them in myrtle beach...I just wanted to say if the shells they had were painted, now they have changed shells get rid of them. Painted shells are toxic. I know ours came with painted shells. I do what everyone else is saying to with making food. I also put food (like shrimp and fruit)...

A few questions
Good morning all, Just some questions I liked to ask because I’m unsure of… 1. How can I reduce the humidity in my tank? 50 gallon tank with 4 crabs in it. My humidity has stayed at 90+ since putting my crabs into the bigger tank and within 4-5 days their food is moldy and the hanging Hammock is cov...

Re: more heat needed!
What kind of top are you using? If it is one that has the screen on it you can wrap Saran Wrap around it to help with the humidity and temperature…that is what I did with mine and it helped a lot. I also use a towel on top of it too. Right now I only have one crab in that tank because he is molting…...

New tank set-up
So I got my 55 gallon tank set up for my hermits! Squid loves it…He has more room to dig and I’m working on things for him to climb! SpongeBob and Jengles are liking it so far, but don’t seem to be climbers. SpongeBob climbed on the stand that I made for them when he was in the other tank but only s...

Re: Safest Building Materials
Anything that is porous (blanket, cardboard, towel, etc) won't hold in the humidity. If you have an empty plastic shopping bag, you can cut it and tape it over the top of the tank to hold in humidity. You will need a thermometer and hygrometer so you know what the temp and humidity are. Thank you c...

Re: Safest Building Materials
Question, I cannot afford a glass lid and I don't have Saran Wrap. Can I use cardboard for the lid? I would replace it a lot... right now I am using a folded thin blanket for the lid. Photos of my crabitat will be posted soon... :cheer: What size tank do you have? Depending on the si...

Re: Safest Building Materials
Okay I got a 55 gallon tank! So we are safe and no wood will be used. Just need to make a lid for it now because it didn’t have one. They used it for a fish tank and the people before them used it for a turtle. Now to find me a bigger heater to heat it with. I have a small one on my 10 gallon. How h...

Re: Safest Building Materials
I should point out, I'm no expert, but I spent a lot of time researching what the experts had to say. For me, a front opening enclosure would have been nice, but in the end it wasn't worth the hassle. Just my opinion. Safest Building Materials
Hello Everyone, So my boyfriend is going to build me a crabitate tank. It is going to 1 ft high, 48"x24"x18"..I am not sure what to use for the bottom, back, and the two sides? I'm not sure if untreated pine would be safe because of the sand and it being moist, I don't want it to rot or mildew. What...

Re: best and cheapest humifidier to use
I wet my spagnum moss, just to damp. Dunk it in treated water, squeeze the excess out, stick it in there. Now if your humidity is too high, you can put it in dry and it will help with that a little. I get my spagnum moss at Lowes in the flower dept. Just make sure it is 100% spagnum moss and not tr...
