My largest crab has disappeared, I can’t see him anywhere in his enclosure. He definitely couldn’t have gotten out of his enclosure so is it possible he’s buried himself to moult? None of my crabs have moulted yet so I’m a bit nervous.
Thanks in advance!

Re: New crabitat set up!
The new set-up looks awesome, and I know they'll appreciate it! The water bowls may be fine now, particularly while they are small, but as they group, bigger (deeper) bowls may be needed to keep them happy. :) Thank you! I think you’re right, I will invest in some deeper bowls. :) Sent from my iPho...

New crabitat set up!
I’m super excited, I have upgraded their small aquarium tank to a 65L and it’s like crabs gone wild in there! They’ve been climbing all over everything and are looking very active and happy. They’re also checking out all the new shells I’ve dropped in. [emoji3059] I feel like I finally have their fo...

Re: Springtails vs Isopods?
If you just want one, then I strongly suggest springtails. They go mostly unnoticed but eat everything unwanted including mold and poop. I seed every enclosure I start with springtails. Awesome, I’ve just ordered some [emoji16] Thank you! I also worry about isopods overbreeding. Sent from my iPhone...

Springtails vs Isopods?
Hi everyone,
I’m keen to get a clean up crew going for my crabitat and I’ve read about both springtails and isopods. In your experience is there one that’s better? I’m not sure which one to purchase.
Thanks in advance

Re: New to the forum and have a question!
No problem! I'm sure mixing a liter at a time would be plenty for you! It's a real pain when you are in a rush then need to mix another batch. I always add the salt first. Then use some warm water and shake to help dissolve the salt. After that I add cool water to get it closer to tank temperature....

Re: New to the forum and have a question!
Thats what you need! I looked it up on the website from your picture. It's amazing how quickly you can go through the salt if you change the water every few days. We found its way easier to mix a gallon, or several, at a time. We have 7 tanks so we use about a gallon each time we change out waters....

Re: New to the forum and have a question!
Looking at your purchases the Aquarium Salt you purchased is for freshwater fish. In the US we have that same brand in the same box too. It's safe to use,but doesn't contain all the elements ocean salts contain. Be sure the salt you use is labeled for saltwater aquariums, or marine use. Here is the...

I have three hermit crabs, a large-ish one named Sheldon, a medium sized one named Hermes and a very small one named Coco. Hermes is a party animal and isn’t shy at all but Sheldon is very skittish and quickly hides inside his shell any time I come near their enclosure. Coco is also a bit nervous bu...

Re: Is this a moult?!
On second thought, this could just be some of the omnivore food mix I gave them. [emoji1787][emoji2368]

I think my hermie has moulted! This is my first time with hermit crabs so I just want to confirm that a moult is truly what I’m seeing here. I have put it back in their enclosure because I know they tend to eat them.

Re: New to the forum and have a question!
Hi, I'm a bit late to the conversation. I noticed you are in Australia. I know some of the things we can easily get in the US isn't available where you are. @aussieJJDude is one of our admins and is also located in Australia. He can probably give some good tips on what is available and where to pur...

Re: New to the forum and have a question!
I agree with everyone else's advice. I see your cowl looks a Little titled, my crabs have burrowed under and accidentally...or to entertain themselves..made their pool spill out. I'd keep an eye on it since they like to burrow. I've since redid my tank so they cant redesign their pools lol. Not tel...
