Re: Cycle fresh or salt water pool?
Hey! Usually, PP's don't rly use especially large water pools - they really just toe dip (that's NOT to say they shouldn't be able to submerge in the dish), But if you really have your heart set on a big water tank, unless your planning on keeping something like straws in the eventual future, go wit...

Re: New Crabby Mom here, looking for any tips
Wow! Your set up so far sounds great. Welcome to the forum! If you aren't super into hermit crab food, I recommend checking out the below Etsy shops, you will need to still offer fresh fruits and veggies though. https://www.etsy.com/shop/HermitGrub?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=952147824 ht...

Re: hermit crab concerns with molting.
I agree with Rosie. It def looks like an exo to me. I think with the proper care, your crab can pull through
I would also start feeding more fresh fruits and veggies - store bought food usually isn't the best for crabs.

Re: hermit crab concerns with molting.
Hello! I would assume your crab was molting. However, are you noticing a dead fish smell around your crab? If so, that could mean s/he has passed. If your crab is in a tank with other crabs, please isolate your molter. Feed a lot of cuttlebone and eggshell, along with other calcium rich foods since ...

Re: Did my hermit crab change genders after molt??
The males have hairy legs/females have smooth legs thing is actually a myth. In fact, it is believed hermit crabs can change genders! That could just be another widespread myth though.
I would say it's possible your crab could have changed genders!
Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

Re: Tank Upgrade
Great! Thanks for the advice.
Any good, cheap 75 gal tank stands out there? I'll go with a 55 if the 75 doesn't work out, but I reaaaally want a 75... The tank stand is the main problem! The tank itself already costs quite a bit, and adding on the cost of the tank stand is PAINFUL!

Re: Tank Upgrade
Ok thanks! I really like the look of boxwood backgrounds. How would you attach them to the tank instead of the suction cups?

Re: Tank Upgrade
So, I desperately want to do some kind of super cool background on the tank, but I'd be terrified of pulling out silicon, and totally ruining the whole tank... Hundreds of dollars down the drain... Does anyone have any cool, risk-free background ideas? Edit: Also, would this be safe for crabs? I can...
