Re: NEW CRAB STEALING OCCUPIED SHELLS?
Was the original crab naked then? It sounds like a shell jacking to me. I just had that happen to one of my crabs, and I even have around 40-50 shells in my tank. Mera wanted Ruby's shell. After a few days she finally got it and forced Ruby into her old shell. If you have very few shells to pick fr...

NEW CRAB STEALING OCCUPIED SHELLS?
I got a new hermit crab today so my other one could have a friend. I have new shells coming in soon. But had a couple that should fit the new crabby. I put the new crab in the tank and he ran around and had so much fun playing. Until he found the other crab, my first crab was always a hider. No matt...

Re: Crab abandons exoskeleton and doesn’t molt?!?!? HELP???
So he surface molted? If so that's not normal. I saw you posted about not having enough sand. That could be reason he surface molted. Grab a 50lb bag of play sand at a hardware store and hopefully that will get you the 6" of sub needed. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk He always had enou...

Me crab friend and new tank
Today I just bought a new crabby friend. I was very distraught at Petsmarts treatment of their crabs. The poor little crab I bought today has a broken shell. But is very active. They ran around there new big tank, climbing on everything! Then retired to his little hide for a nap! I do need to buy mo...

Crab abandons exoskeleton and doesn’t molt?!?!? HELP???
So I wrote on here about a week ago that I accidentally picked up a molting crab. I immediately put him back where he was and left him alone. I notice today he moved to a different hide. So I check the old one and parts of his exoskeleton are still in there. Uneaten. He hasn’t changed shells either....

Re: HELP! will crabby die?
To clarify - he is molting on the surface, correct? Not underneath the substrate? Do you have other crabs? More or less yeah, he only half buries himself. So he sticks out almost fully. When I went to pick him up he was on the surface with a hole under the shell where the exoskeleton was. I have en...

HELP! will crabby die?
I was rearranging his tank the other day, adding better water bowls and new hides. I like to smooth the sand out so he has to dig again just for more exercise because he isn’t very active. I was removing everything. Went to remove him last and when I picked him up his exoskeleton was UNDERNEATH HIM!...

Re: Rate my crabitat
Pretty great! But I have a suggestion, maybe a little more enrichment? The cholla wood and hide is are a good start, but crabs are really active and need a lot to do. I took a big rock from outside, sanitized it and buried the bottom half in the substrate. As soon as my new PP's got into the tank t...

This is a 10 gallon tank. I got a heat lamp which I keep on during the day and shut off at night. The lamp usually keeps the temps around 80-90 degrees and when shut off it’s between 70-75 degree. Humidity fluctuates a lot, can’t seem to get it to level out. I mist every few hours, and I keep a damp...

Getting my crab a friend?
I have a single crabby at the moment. I was thinking about getting him a friend but currently have a 10 gallon tank. I’m not sure if it’s enough room for a friend. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210908/e95c66922e8b659801e8210fd1d996cb.jpg Do crabbies like their own hides? Or do they share? I kno...

Help? Not sure if this is normal
So I made a post on here and people were telling me to not move my hermit crab out of hiding. Which I would do every few days because he want eating. He molted like 3 weeks ago so I don’t think he is molting again. But it’s been like a week since I stopped bringing him out to eat and he hasn’t come ...

New Crab mom!
So I bought a fairly small Hermit Crab in Ocean City Maryland! (Not sure of its Sex but I’m referring to it as a ‘he’) so I live in New Hampshire, so he had a pretty long car ride back. I bought him under the idea that Hermit Crabs were easy pets and after a few google searches I found out that isn’...
