Harmful bugs?
Hi, can anyone tell me what these are, if they are harmful, and how to get rid of them? I did dip both my guys that I see in salt water.

Re: need help finding right shells!
not at all saying you should or need to buy these.. this is just an example of mexican turbos. My crabs loved them because they are very light for their size. https://www.etsy.com/listing/248492842/nessastores-mexican-turbo-sea-shell?ref=hp-7&plkey=24c35b2446a10da654268394e164d7db3dfc819d%3A248492842

Re: Metal in the tank?
metal in a crabitat is generally not a good idea.. it could/would rust depending on the type of metal and the rust is toxic to them. In a discord i'm on a member used egg crate to create a second level and covered it with burlap -- i think someone here did that as well

lots of protein and calcium.. some healing foods are honey, peanut butter, boiled or raw egg (bonus, the shell can be crushed and used for calcium), worm castings (can get at a hardware store), and bee pollen

Re: Worm Castings
you can dump it into the sub for foraging and then fill with fresh... sift for poop if you prefer, i guess. *shrug
or if you have plenty, you can just dump in trash and start fresh.. but it's really just personal preference.

Re: New owner of 2 crabs!
Welcome! You've got a find start.. nice climbing log! If I may offer a little advice... Your substrate should be deeper.. like 6" deep, and it's hard to tell if it is already, but it needs to be wetted down so that it's "sandcastle" consistency. because the sub needs to be deeper.. the heat can't be...

Re: Substrate
no matter what size your "cage" is, the substrate should be 3 times as deep as your largest crab... 6 inches is a general idea of depth. If you don't think it's big enough.. you can keep an eye on FB marketplace or craigs list they often have used tanks at very reasonable prices. some larger cities ...
