Re: Tigerwood safe for crabs?
Thank you guys! I’ve asked about the species name so I can try to look it up but I’m not sure if I’ll get a reply. It makes sense that it should be fine if it’s usually okay for crustaceans in aquariums. Unfortunately I don’t have easy access to clean tree branches of my own since I’m in a city :( w...

Tigerwood safe for crabs?
Hello, I know I just posted recently but I have run into another question while preparing for this tank that I am hoping others might be able to help with. I'm sorry for the multiple posts in succession. Does anyone know whether or not wood for aquariums that's labeled tigerwood is safe for hermit c...

Re: Plants and air flow questions
Thank you! Okay, I like the idea of EE, chips and worms castings at different ratios depending on the plant, but I'll look more into mixes I can buy. Yeah, it’s unfortunate that winter is like this in my home. I’ve been hesitant to try a humidifier because I’ve heard a lot about excess water running...

Re: Plants and air flow questions
I’ve never done anything like this before so any input is greatly appreciated! :D Yes, that makes a lot of sense, I want to keep the actual crab substrate the same and add plant pots with a substrate that’s safe for when the crabs inevitably get into them and kick pieces out or taste them. I’m sorry...

Plants and air flow questions
I'm currently trying to set up a new 50 gallon tank for my crabs and I’d like it to have some plants and air flow. I’ve been using the plant guide a lot and searching around for tips from previous posts but I have some questions that I was hoping people with more crabitat experience than I have migh...

Re: New owner with a question about hermit crab sleeping positions
Lol that's hilarious! Thanks! This all makes me feel much better. They are such bizarre little creatures, I wonder what they’re thinking when they climb around.Hermiecrab wrote: ↑Thu Oct 28, 2021 3:48 pmOh yeah, its all good! I got a crabby who sleeps upside-down! Congrats!

Re: New owner with a question about hermit crab sleeping positions
Thank you! I didn’t realize that when looking for crabs hanging out of their shells I should be checking for general signs of weakness too but that makes a lot of sense now that you say it. I think your explanation gives me a better idea of what to look for if they’re very unwell which hopefully I w...

New owner with a question about hermit crab sleeping positions
Hello I am new here and I have a question about hermit crab behavior, I hope I am posting this in the right place/way. I looked around and I’ve seen a few people asking similar questions but many posts seemed specific to the original poster’s situation, so I apologize if this is something that gets ...
