Re: Crab very pale

My daughter named him Tough because he’s our brave one. He always pops out when he hears us coming; the others mostly hide, but he’s social and curious.

Thanks, @JTKermie

You were right - we’re starting to see more of them now; we often get a visit in before bedtime :)

Crab very pale

Hi! We’re about four months into our crab-owning journey. We started with 4 - 1 died early on, 2 have been MIA under the sand (molting, I assume) and 1 has been active and friendly. This week, a second crab surfaced and has been visible (yay!), but we noticed that in comparison, the one we’ve been w...

Re: I'm new here

Hi Julie Ann. Just saw your concern about playsand. We got ours from Home Depot, even in the dead of (Canadian) winter. Ask if they have some in the back. Good luck!

Re: New crabs hiding

Thanks for the suggestions! I have read about molting but thought it would be a big coincidence for all of them to go under at once. I’m reassured by your comments. Re: sponge - will do! Re: calcium - we have a cuttlebone, which I think is calcium Re: shells - added a couple more today and will try ...

New crabs hiding

Thanks for all the great info - I’ve been reading your boards for months preparing for my daughter’s Christmas gift of hermies. Here’s our setup: -4 tinies, species unknown (we planned for 3 but bought 4 bc I read that many die right after purchase). -20G glass tank with screen top that’s been silic...
