Moving soon! Help!

I'm moving to Texas on May 18th. We have one hermit crab who has been underground for about a month. We were afraid we'd have to interrupt his molt but luckily we finally saw him through the glass underground and he's moving his antennas about. Do you guys think it's okay to scoop him out and put th...

Re: Wood in water pool

Man, so much time and money invested in this new pool 🥲 I have a fake plant wall back ground they like to climb that I cut and zip tied into a stair as a final result. This seems more sturdy. If this doesn't work then I might switch back. Hopefully this works. I see them want to go in, I just don't ...

Wood in water pool

I recently upgraded one of my pools to a small 1 gallon fresh water pool. I have an egg crate ramp set up so they can climb in and out. It's been about a month and I haven't seen them dip in once. I tend to stay up late and have caught them use their old small salt water pool but not the new fresh o...

Traveling with Crabs

Hello, I'm planning on moving from California to Texas in the near future and was wondering if anyone has had any experience traveling interstate with their crabs. I have 3 purple pinchers. I'm debating on figuring a way to get them transported by plane (a 4 hour flight) but I'm scared of mishandlin...

Dry top sand

My humidity and heat is always in the appropriate range. I use a 5;1 ratio of play sand to eco earth. The bottom layer of sand is nice and moist but the top layer is always drying up. I try and spray and mix the top layer though I'm hesitant to get too carried away as I almost collapsed a molting tu...

Re: Disturbed tunnel. Not collapsed completely

I woke up this morning and the entrance isn't there anymore. I'm assuming my other crab dragged some dirt over it. Nothing looks compact or sealed. Just fluffed sand over it.

And I'm going to assume everything is fine and I'm just worrying? 🥲

Re: Disturbed tunnel. Not collapsed completely

The entrance is still roundish in shape. And is about an inch deep before hitting the small pile of fluffed moist-ish sand. It's also not packed in or anything since I was only lightly moving the top sand around. As I was fluffing and brushing sand around lightly, I suddenly felt perfect hole appear...

Disturbed tunnel. Not collapsed completely

1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it? 5:1 play sand to eco earth. About 6.5" deep 2. Do you have gauges in the tank to measure temperature and humidity? If so, where are they located and what temperature and humidity do they usually read? Digital temperature and humidit...

Molting? Sand dryness near UTH

Hello, I'm a fairly new owner, but I'd like to think we have all of their needs met. :) Our crabs have been super active since rescuing them. Eating like crazy, exploring, and even changed out of their stupid painted shells! The humidity ranges from 85%-92% and heat ranges from 75-80 (it's a bit col...

Re: NAKED CRAB (possible mites)

They are super small but I can't see any of them on the substrate or food bowls. There were a few in the empty shell when I inspected them. I rinsed both of them. I surrounded her with rinsed shells closer to her size and she climbed in one of them but hasn't really settled in it. Her butt is facing...

NAKED CRAB (possible mites)

FOR THE RECORD THESE ARE NOT MY PERSONAL CRABS. THESE ARE THE HOSPITALS I WORK FOR. I have some of my own and I've tried my best to provide these with what I can. But my coworkers won't listen and aren't willing to put in the work 1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it? Pl...

How often do your crabs go in water bowls?

How often do your crabs go in water bowls? I'm a first time owner, and I want to make sure I've provided an adequate entrance to their water bowls. I'm using a glass Tupperware container, slightly dug into substrate, with a mesh ladder, not too sure if the ladder is sturdy enough. Haven't seen eithe...
