Re: Long Molt
It was weird because she was uncharacteristically active for a week before she went under, but since then there hasn't been any sign of movement.
Re: Long Molt
I guess I can't be one hundred percent certain but I made sure to remember what the substrate looked like when she dug down there and it has been completely undisturbed the whole time. Plus I put a couple small pieces of food on top of where she initially dug down and those havent been disturbed at ...
Long Molt
Hi, my hermit crab dug down most likely to molt about 3 - 4 months ago and I haven't seen any signs of movement the whole time. Is this a concern or is it normal for them to take this long to molt? This crab is fairly new and I haven't seen her go through a molt before.

surface molt
My hermit crab did a surface molt and I filled out an emergency form and figured out that it was most likely because I had the wrong kind of substrate. I didn't want to move him to replace the substrate until he had fully recovered from molting, but my other hermit crab kept crawling on top of him a...

Are crabs supposed to eat their exoskeleton after molting?
Hi, my hermit crab molted several days ago. He shed his exoskeleton and then stayed underground until today. After he was done shedding, I removed the exoskeleton from the crabitat because of hygiene concerns, but now I'm wondering if that was a mistake because I read online that they usually eat th...

Re: Hermit crab died, not sure what happened but I need to find out so I can save my other one.
UPDATE!! I think that my hermit crab had actually just molted and is still alive in the shell. Which is why I thought something looked wrong like he was all torn up or something. It was just the exoskeleton. I feel very dumb for this now haha. In response to your questions, I have no idea of the spe...
