Re: Unequal molting times - will the little guy get depressed alone?
All you can really do is offer them a variety of shell sizes and wait for them to pick one. If you think that the ones in there are too big, you could try offering some smaller ones. you can also boil them in salt water mix to clean them and make them more enticing to your crabs. If you live in the ...

Re: Unequal molting times - will the little guy get depressed alone?
IIIIIII... would probably just watch and wait, yeah. Since you haven't seen obvious aggression, and Big guy isn't on the surface and injured, there's probably not an emergency, and when it comes to stressed and possibly-molting crabs, it's best to give them time and space. Hiding spots. Places where...

Re: Humidity troubles
Well is the gauge directly on the substrate? like, touching it? It's usually recommended to put the gauge a few inches above the substrate because putting the guaue too close to the sub will skew the readings. I mean think about it, you're putting the gauge on water. So, if the bottom guaue is on th...

Re: Fall injury(potentially solved)
No worries for a needless post! Better to be sure! I've had hermit crabs fall before from similar and higher heights (used to have a 40 gallon with E's, currently have a 29 gallon with PP's). They've always been fine. When you say he fell on a hut, do you mean a cocohut? As long as it wasn't somethi...

Re: New owner of 2 crabs!
it'll take some time for your crabs to de-stress and adjust to their new surroundings. it's not abnormal for that process to take up to a month or more. it's also hard to see how active they're being since they're most active at night when most people are asleep. try not to worry too much if you don...

Re: New owner of 2 crabs!
Hey! Welcome to crabbing! And much respect for being open to suggestion! Your tank is looking very nice so far, and your proposed improvements sound great. I think you're doing a fantastic job, taking the time and care to give your crabs something nice, even if they weren't expected, and even if you...

Re: Hermit Crab walking around naked for 24h
blood worms, brine shrimp, calci worms, cockroaches (dead) and crickets (dead) are all great sources of protein that you can get at your local petstore. another good source of protein that you probably have on hand are eggs (they can be served cooked or uncooked). you can crush up egg shells and off...

yeah so like with water, it can be botted. I use gallon jugs of spring water or tap water is usually fine too. then treat it with a dechlorinator (I use seachem prime).

yeah that should be fine. it should be pre-washed so all you really gotta do is add the cocoa fiber and water.

Re: Sap Still on Baked Pine Cones
I had to look up a video to figure out how to actually get at the pine nuts cuz I wasn't sure how to extract them best. but yeah I can definitely just add those. since you said the pine cones are safe tho I might just add some of them too for enrichment and decor
thanks!

Sap Still on Baked Pine Cones
Hey, so I was baking some botanicals that I collected to put into the tank. I got maple leaves, mulberry leaves, a couple of maple branches, and two types of pine cones. I baked the pine cones at 180 degrees (fahrenheit) for over an hour, but I still see small spots of shiny tacky resin. What should...
