Re: heating woes
I have cardboard wrapped in aluminum foil, with it covering my uth on the back, the sides, and the lid of my tank.Very helpful. Front of the tank drops to 75* when the room is in the 60's. I've heard of people doing a double layer, too. I believe the lowest we should have it is 72*F, so getting it b...

Re: Correct Hermit Crab Food
I love looking on the safe food list and finding different things already at home to feed. Such as nuts, oats, rice, olive/coconut oil, quinoi, tea (if all safe ingerdients, I break open the tea bag), honey, dried fruit (if nothing added. And from the fridge, like you said fruit, veggies, and meat o...

Mine love all forms of corn and coconut (even coconut oil!), a mineral powder blend, and moss. How do you do chicken bones marrow and buy it from? I recently bought dog chew/treats of differ...

Re: humidity at night
Glass or Plexi glass can be placed over a mesh lid or used instead. You can also cover the mesh lid with syran wrap or packaging tape (sticky side up to prevent crabs getting stuck to it). I use a light over the packaging tape I have. Not sure if a light, like aquarium light flush against it would b...

Rosie, I love that! So glad I saw this. I'll be on the lookout for your thread redoing, if you end up posting it. Being a visual person, that will really help! Thanks for sharing. Love how this creates levels in a different way, but also creates climbing area underneath. My crabs are also climbing b...

Re: Getting another crab during my crab's molt?
I just adopted two new hermies, and my second of my two residents just went down a couple days prior to molt. Neither of my two new ones have dug under (to my knowledge), however, I feel there is enough room with 8 inches of substrate in my 55 gallon tank I was not worried. IMO, as long as there is ...
