Re: Empty ten gal

In case you do decide to try a Betta - Another way to quickly cycle a tank, without using a goldfish, is to "seed the tank". You can do this by finding a friend that has an established fish tank and ask that they provide you with their used filter or filter bag to place in the tank. If you don't hav...

Would they disappear so quick?

So two weeks ago, I rescued two teeny hermits from pretty horrid conditions - silica sand not even an inch deep, small pools, crab pellets. Their previous owner had them just over a year. The shells provided as "extra" are too big even for my two Medium Hermies to fit. They've never molted, but a pr...

Re: Exo Terrra or 20 Gal Tank?

Crab Central station has a great tutorial video on how to set up an Exo-Terra tank as a topper on YouTube. I followed their suggestions with great results. :)

Re: Shell Wars & 2 Shallow Molts

If you want a discussion and/or answer, re: Redcoral Salt, I'd suggest making a separate posting in the "Water" board. But that's just my 2 cents, for what it's worth.

Re: Controlling condensation help

Thank you @curlysister. I was not aware that a flood will not occur if the moisture causing condensation is preexisting within the tank. I've currently not needed to add extra moisture so I won't worry about flooding at this point. Things I did do: - lowered the tank temp by one degree. - cut out a ...

Re: Controlling condensation help

The water level doesn't seem super low in the pools. I just started using bubblers yesterday and the condensation was an issue before hand, if evaporation was being considered. The pools are along the side of the tank , UTH is taped along entire back of tank. I have ladders created by egg crate cove...

Controlling condensation help

I'm new to Hermit Crabs in this past year. I've done a lot of research through this forum and other resources. I had a 10 gallon for my OG 2 medium PPs, but I've upgraded to a 30 gallon (and added two tiny rescued PPs). With the larger tank upgrade, I have a condensation problem. Seems to only be on...

Re: Aussie, 2 new crabs, new crab owner, worried about PPDR method

From what I've read and understand from research - total darkness is preferred, if not required, for a large portion of their 12 hr night cycle. That being said, you can use the blue/night light for some smaller portions of that cycle - like if you're wanting to view them or if you need to utilize t...

Crab Central Station has a video about adding a topper on their YouTube channel. I found it super helpful when adding mine. https://youtu.be/_XLcvprxMj0

Re: Attaching Exo Terra to normal tank

The Exo Terra tank inverts and sits upside down on the lip of the crabitat tank. For my set up, I have a 12x12 cube on the one side of my 30 gallon tank measuring 12x30. I then had two custom pieces of glass cut for the remaining tank lid. One piece at ~12x12 & another at ~12x8. The 12 x 12 is snug ...
