HCA: Hermit Crab Association

OK so apparently now my crabs LOOOOVVVVEEEEEEE NUUUUTTTTSSSSS!!!! They all take the nuts wherever they go. I have plenty in there but still I find the nuts hidden with the crabs. SO FUNNY.

I find my crabs like hiding in caves that are placed next to the heater that gets upwards of 85+ degrees and very high humidity inside of it. Maybe try placing some hides next to a heater.

Sometimes they hitch a ride on Hermit crabs to find more food easier.

Keep up the food and water changes. Many times hermit crabs like to burrow around in the substrate and they will stay under fir a while sometimes if they like it. Do they get it dirty with substrate pretty quickly? I've been thinking of giving my hermies honey but don't want a big mess.

My smallest crab, Sheldon, does it every night. He goes down without a trace and comes up at night in a totally different spot to chow on some food snag a drink and retreat back underground. Lol!

Your "lost" crab may just be a big digger. Some crabs like to dig around in their substrate and are very hard to find. This is the case with one of my crabs which is a small guy who burrows all over the place and I can never find him until night when he comes up. Also, what is your substrate depth? ...
