Crab buries himself during day?
Hi all! So I have two hermies. One is smaller and has been underground for 3 weeks now. My bigger one has successfully molted and is above ground (kind of). My one that is above ground only comes out in the middle of the night. He goes to eat and drink at night, and then rushes back over to the same...

Moving molting crabs!
I’m moving places in a week, and both my new crabs have gone down most likely to molt. They’re in a 10 gal, how can I move them for the car ride? I’m fairly sure they’re alive because there are no odors, but I got worried when the temperature dropped to low 60’s. I now have to UTH which are working ...

Heating, molting, and moving!
I’m moving places in a week, and both my new crabs have gone down most likely to molt. They’re in a 10 gal, how can I move them for the car ride? Also I’m currently using a heat lamp, which I cannot use where I’m headed. My UTH isn’t cutting it by itself though currently. Is room temp, around 65 deg...

Re: Burrowing right after purchase?
Yes, they are/were probably molting or destressing. Perfectly normal, especially right after purchase. You are correct that they should not be dug up (since we can't know if they're molting or just hiding.) One thing you will want to be sure to add to their tank is a source of protein (any meat wil...

Switching out tank tops to a solid one? Need advice!
So I have a 10 gallon critter cage by Zilla for my hermit crabs. I now realize the mesh top won’t keep the heat and humidity in. The top slides in and locks, so I don’t know what other solid top
I could put over it to keep it warm/what I could buy?

Burrowing right after purchase?
Hello all! So I just bought my first hermit crabs, I got them about 5 days ago. They burrowed after the first day. They have thick substrate, good humidity, OK temperature (working on getting it warmer), and fresh saltwater and freshwater, along with fresh fruit and veggies. However, I was wondering...

Re: Tank isn’t warm enough! Need help ASAP please.
If you have a mesh top and nothing covering it, all the humidity and heat will be able to escape. I use glass tops on my tanks, and they hold everything in well. For now, completely wrap your top up in saran wrap. This will keep the moisture and heat in. The crabs will get air exchange when you ope...

Re: Tank isn’t warm enough! Need help ASAP please.
If it has a sticky side, it is not recommended to remove and re-use it, as the small wires inside can break and it can be a fire hazard. The UTH also can't be bent, like to go around a corner of the tank. Gotcha! So I got a large UTH to cover the back of my crabitat. It seems great size and covers ...

Re: Tank isn’t warm enough! Need help ASAP please.
Hello! I did place it under the tank, I thought that was where it was supposed to be, but now reading up on it I know I shouldn’t! I don’t know if I can remove it without damaging it though? Can’t it not be bent? If I can remove it I’ll gladly stick it to the side! Thanks for the reply!

Tank isn’t warm enough! Need help ASAP please.
I recently got my hermit crabs and they are adorable! Humidity is good, have fresh food and water as well as a UVB light. I have an UTH but my tank is barely 70 degrees. It’s worrying me. Both my crabs have burrowed, my substrate is eco earth coconut substrate and sand and is about 4-5 inches thick....
