Re: Hermit crab buried but Crabitat needs to be cleaned
Hi! So my crabitat (aka the champ lair), needs to be cleaned out and dirt needs to be switched, however, anytime I need to do that, one of my crabs (aka champs) are buried. As of right now, I've been having little flies fly around in the tank, I try and kill them when I can! However, one of my cham...

Re: Heating?
Usually my temp (in tank) falls between 75 and 77 F however, since I've moved them to their rubber tote (temporarily until Moe is done molting) it's been closer to 70 F which is getting to be too cold for them. I don't have a heater since it's usually good at maintaining temperature itself, what sh...

Re: Crabitat humidity
Haha I wish I had an answer for you! I have no idea how the humidity is so high in my tank. It's just sand with coconut fiber. I'm not doing anything terribly special. I have sand and coconut fiber that is sand castle consistency, two medium sized water bowls, and a moss pit! I even have a se...

Re: Crabitat humidity
Help please! It's difficult to regulate the humidity in my crabitat. I feel like there is no sweet spot. I can keep the glass lid tightly shut, then the substrate will stay nice and moldable. Then the humidity skyrockets and stays at 99%. I could prop the lid to let out some humidity, but the resul...

Re: What are Your Crabs’ Favorite Foods?
I see mine eat often. Sometimes when I put food in there and then they’ll come steal the food if they really love it. When I feed them, I’ll come back about 10-15 minutes later and stand back away from their cage to watch them eat. If the food is fragrant (or smelly), they go to the food dish rathe...

Re: What's on today's menu & recipe sharing
Give them some of the pumpkin leaves and flowers too! I even dry those for winter feeding. OoO that's smart! I have leafs and flowers now but no blooms yet! I could definitely get them a few, thanks for the tip! I regularly offer these natrual seeds I bought online, they are sunflower and pumpkin s...

Re: HELP!! CRACKED SHELL (new hermit owner)
The crack is on lower part of the shell , it doesn’t go all the way across his shell but its still kinda big. The way it cracked was my fault, he pinched me and out of reflex i flicked my hand[emoji17] also I couldnt get the clearest photo so i outlined it https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230816/...

Re: ruggies???
Mine is a lot more active than my PPs, so they'll use any additional space and climbing items you can provide. She's also super picky about shells and has refused to change for the past 6 years, even though I've offered her a 100+ options over the years, so try to tempt with a solid shell in good s...

Re: Noticably smaller crab
Nice! Should I wash the play sand before I put it in or is it ok to just put it right in? I would moisten it until sand castle consistency, but that's just so tunnels hold up, it's already washed and screened so your good to go straight out of the bag, but it just needs to be sand castle consistency!

Re: Play sand question.
I'm a new to hermit crabs and I am building a bigger 20 gallon tank set up. In the 10 gallon I already have I used Flukers hermit beach sand and Eco earth. It works great but I'm sure as you all know it is pricey. I purchased from Lowe's Sakrete All-natural play sand. I found a lot of mixed reviews...
