That makes a lot more sense, I was wondering what you meant by coconut flakes [emoji38][emoji23]

Re: First time crab owner

I purchased my crabs on vacation two months ago. They were in a starter kit with gravel. Today I upgraded them too but I hope is a much much healthier habitat. They have much more space, things to climb on, and I added a higher quality food and a small pool with salt water. I had no idea they neede...

Re: Hermit Crab set-up?

Consider giving everyone a quick dip in the fresh water, so they all smell the same and nobody seems like an intruder. You will want to get a thermometer and hygrometer for your tote so you know that the temp and humidity are correct for your molter. 70 is a bit too cool in your main tank too. How ...

Basically, I have a molter in a rubbermaid tote (a bit worried about the temp in that one bc i have no heaters in there and it's starting to get cold so idrk what to do) and I have my 3 other crabs...

MY CRABS ARE FREEZING

we have a small heater and a heat lamp (outside the tank, temporary) to heat up the tank but it's sticking at 70 degrees, they've buried themselves in the same a bit, creating almost a door in the sand and when I remove them from their hides, they run straight to the heat mat. What heater is recomme...

Cats messing with my ISO tank?

SOOO i just transferred my hermit crabs to their new tank while my molter stays in my ISO tank (it's a rubber tote btw about 16 gal) and it's in my closet currently, however my cat like to hang out in there was well and she might jump on top of the it, she shouldn't be able to open it but she's abou...

Re: Tank Reno/moving While Molting

Just cleaned out my 18 gal so I can transfer everything! Using a custom cut plexiglass piece for a lid! I don't have to drill holes in it right? I open the tank pretty much daily to replace food and water or to handle them, is that enough airflow or do I need to drill holes? Sent from my iPhone usin...

Tank Reno/moving While Molting

Hey! So if you've seen my previous Topics you know that Moe (my oldest male crab) is molting for the first time in my care, and this is also my first time dealing with a molting crab, so it's new for both of us! I currently have them in a rubber-maid tote (it was supposed to be temporary) and I want...

Re: Molting...or gone?

I was worried Frog got out a few weeks ago (he showed no signs of molting), I have a bad feeling and went to put new water in and spilt the water in the tank, I was worried about flooding, and I had all crabs underground. So, I took everything out.. I had to dig everyone up, which luckily everyone ...

Molting...or gone?

So my oldest Male crab is molting atm, and this is his first time (in my care) and my first time seeing it! Except...I can't see him? I can't even find the hole he climbed into! He's not on any of the sides of the tank and I haven't seen him anywhere else. Is that normal, or is it possible he got ou...

LED lights?

Can I put LED lights in my hermit crabs tank, or maybe on the outside of the tank? The tote they're in atm is very dark.

Re: Heating?

My tank tends to fall between 85° F and 91° F, sometimes it goes up to 95° F which is very hot! I'm always worried about my substrate drying out, but then it goes back down (it just depends on the heat outside tbh). I use an ultratherm that covers almost the entire back of the tank above the substa...
