Re: No Claws AND No Legs. Please help us.
There have been a few of us who attempted it and had the crab survive! It really comes down to if there are unseen internal injuries and if their mouthparts are intact enough to eat. Mine was even able to scarf down her entire old exoskeleton without assistance, she ate everything like it was a pie...

Re: No Claws AND No Legs. Please help us.
There is a thread on the site somewhere, with details on how someone (I think it was MotorCrab) fed a limbless crab. You can isolate him in a margarine tub or similar container with holes cut in the lid so that he gets the same heat and humidity but is safe from other crabs. Let me see if I can fin...

No Claws AND No Legs. Please help us.
1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it? 6 inches of sand & cocofiber mix 2. Do you have gauges in the tank to measure temperature and humidity? If so, where are they located and what temperature and humidity do they usually read? 70-80 range on both. gauge is on the back ...

Re: Most disgusting thing you've ever fed your crabs?
Second Motorcrab. WARNING GRAPHIC: I have a snake, and he decided he didn't want the large mouse I had already thawed for him. So I tossed it to the crabs rather than compost and they didn't even wait for nightfall to dig in. Almost darkly comical to see them startle away from an open mouse with lit...

Re: What types of Enrichment?
I think puzzle feeders is a great idea! I've been trying to get some rat puzzle feeders 3d printed because theres a huge variety for those guys in about the right size range. I've also seen people make tire swings and cocohut swings for them. Other things I've seen are artificial boxwood-style climb...

How Big Are Your Es?
Hi! I'm curious and thought I'd ask how big everyone's Ecuadorian hermit crabs are? Wikipedia says "They can be up to 12 mm (0.47 in) in length and are thought to be one of the smallest species of land hermit crabs." but there is no source listed nor explanation of how they measured the crabs. I hav...

Re: NINE crab surprise!
My tank is a 75 gallon. Is it alright to have them all in there or do you think I should set up my 29 gallon to hold a few of them? I thought not because I have better opportunities for providing enrichment in the big tank. They seem to be interacting without issue so far. They're mostly on the smal...

NINE crab surprise!
:cheer: Someone I know from my job was looking to rehome some crabs! They weren't sure how many they had, and there ended up being 9 of them  Since there's 9, I named them after the planets. And the extra I named after Sailor Moon  I've got them now and they've been settling in for a few...

Re: I need to get humidity levels under control ASAP
How do I post a picture of my crabitat? I want to know if it is correct so my hermies are under as less stress as possible… You have to upload the image to an external image host like Google photos, Imgur, or Dropbox. https://www.labnol.org/internet/embed-google-photos-in-website/29194/ And then yo...
