Re: Digging
Crabs like to dig, some more than others. Sometimes it is to molt, sometime to de-stress, and sometimes just for fun. If a crab is underground, you do not know which of those reasons it is for. If a crab is molting and you dig it up and disturb it during a critical point in the molt, you can injure...

Digging
One of my hermit crabs I believe has recently passed away. I’m not 100% sure if she’s dead yet but it looks like there may be mold growing on her limbs. I recently got another hermit crab (including the possibly dead crab I now have 3 crabs) and now my other crabs won’t stop digging. The older one d...

Re: Less Active
Usually a dead crab will fall out of the shell. This looks like she may be blocking the entrance with her legs/claw. The mold could be on trapped food stuck in there. Is she tight in her shell? Or falling out? I'm sorry I don't remember what you said, does she smell at all? Sent from my Moto G (5) ...

Re: Less Active
One of my crabs flipped over the crab I thought was dead but he’s is still in his shell. The reason I think it’s dead is because it’s lost all color and looks fuzzy almost moldy. Any suggestions I do not wanna bury him outside if he’s alive but I’m scared he could get my other crabs sick.

It seems as though the same is dry all the way to the bottom which is why I’m nervous the smaller one can’t climb up should I still just wait and how do I fix the substrate?

Re: Less Active
Now that I’ve increased the humidity and heat they are both around the 80s, the sand is dry. I’ve sprayed the top layer and when I push my fingers into the sand it just crumbles. The larger hermit crab that’s molting I can see since it’s up along side the glass and it hasn’t really moved from that a...

Re: Less Active
So the humid has been over 80 and I think they are both molting but I can’t tell. The smaller one of the two I have no idea where is at like no hole or anything should I look in the tank for it? The second one I thought was molting it started four days ago and then came up for food and water then bu...

Re: Less Active
No they have not molted yet and heat is around 80-82 and the humidity is around 40-50. I just cleaned their entire tank like took everything out including the crabs and after a couple minutes on a towel while I cleaned the tank next to them they started to get more active than inside the tank.
