Re: Ants living in the tank
I wiped down the top edge of the tank with vineger and killed as many ants as I could. I am going to put some of the decorations back and the hermit crabs back in the tank as most of the ants are gone and it is getting late and I have school tomorrow. Both crabs are awake and one is crawling around.

Climbing the lid
I have a mesh lid covered with seran wrap. One of my crabs has figured out a way to get to the top of the tank even though the decorations dont really reach that high and I dont think he knows how to get down. I dont want to open the top of the tank because I am scared he'll retract into his shell a...

One guy is digging a lot
Both my guys are doing great and made it through their first molt and were active for a few weeks however over the last few days of them I noticed has either been under the sand much more when the other one has already been awake for about 3 hours. The one who is awake is eating and very active I am...

Kinda cool colors
This isnt a concern or anything I just thought it was neat. I have two PPs currently and they both made it through their first molts, the one is a fairly normal color maybe a bit pale but I just got him. The other one though ended up being a really dark red after his first molt. I just thought it wa...

Re: Power went out
We managed to get a bit of power and it's sitting around 60, the power should come back on in two or three hours. We don't have access to hot water and the one hermit crab is dug under the sand but not molting the other is about 1.5 months into what is probably a 2 month molt.

We may be able to get a generator however that could still take awhile (depends on when a neighbor wakes up)

Power went out
Last night the power went out I thought the tank was going to be fine but the temperature is now down to about 58 degrees where it was previously in the 70s and still slowly dropping. The humidity is still fine. We can either move them into a different room next to the fireplace or wait 9 hours for ...

Re: New hermit crabs molting?
Definitely not planning on digging for them, just curious if since this is their first molt with me would they be molting for longer and would they be fine for pps after they come back up? Also curious if it would be a bad idea to rearange bits of their tank while they are molting (not digging anyth...
