Re: Water temperature

Cold water isn’t great for purple pincers, whether in saltwater or freshwater. They prefer warmer temps around their crabitat's 82 degrees. It might stress them out or affect their health, so try to use water that’s close to the tank’s temperature.

Re: Filters

I’ve had good luck with Intex filters. They’re solid and work well for smaller pools around 2 gallons. For your salt water pool, definitely check out Hayward or Pentair. I had a bad experience with a filter that wasn’t designed for salt water, so I’d stick to ones made for it.

Re: is this food safe for my crab?

I used to worry about my crabs eating corn and soybean too. From what I've read and experienced, they're not the best for crabs. I switched to a crab-specific food and noticed a big improvement in their health and behavior. If you're unsure, it might be worth chatting with a vet who specializes in m...

Re: Can hermit crabs eat Lady’s Thumb?

I've foraged Lady’s Thumb for my rabbits too, and they seem to love it with no issues. I’d say it’s probably okay for your crabs as long as you’re sure it’s chemical-free. Just start with a small amount and watch how they handle it. As for cosmos flowers, I haven’t had any trouble with them and they...

Re: How To Maintain Humidity Low Budget

I’ve been in the same boat before. A few things that worked for me were using a larger plastic container or bin as a lid instead of just a bag—it helped a lot with keeping the humidity in. I also put a damp sponge in the tank for extra moisture. If you can swing it, a small aquarium heater can reall...

Re: Is Laminaria safe?

I’ve used Laminaria in baths before, and it’s usually pretty safe. It’s packed with minerals and can be great for your skin. Just double-check if you’re allergic to seaweed or anything.
