Woke up this morning to a shell in the water and naked crab in corner. This is one that I swear has been in a shell too small. I scooped him up and put him in a dish with a few larger shells and set covered in the tank.
Any other suggestions? Should I just put him back and leave him be???

Re: Not Sure What's Wrong
Sometimes crabs just like what they have. It’s wearing a Babylonia and looks like you have several others. That’s a common shell for Ecuadorians but PPs tend to prefer shells like turbos with round openings. As long as suitable shells are available it’s usually a nonissue Here’re our shell lists fo...

Re: Not Sure What's Wrong
Some crabs like a smaller shell than others. Is he a PP? What type of shell is he in now? What types and sizes of shells do you have as extras, and how many? I don't know the names of the shells lol - I've got several larger of the same he is in - its the brown and white shells not the green turbos...

Not Sure What's Wrong
I've got one crab that seems to big fro his shell, but won't change. He did finally move some today, but even still he's kinda just sitting there, and if I wave my hands in front, he's not quick to retreat - and when he does doesn't seem he can get all up in the shell. Should I worry, will they chan...

Re: Crab has been molting for 4 months
Np. [emoji846] There's a member on here that adopted some crabs from someone else a while back. I think it was 6 weeks later, the people that gave up their crabs contacted the HCA member that they found another one of their crabs roaming around in the basement. You'd be surprised how tough these li...

Re: Crab has been molting for 4 months
I had a small crab go missing for 7 weeks when I first rescued her, then she reappeared. When they are new, they may not only go under to molt, but to destress for a bit. I've had crabs pass under the sand and I never smelled anything. It's usually when they are topside and pass that we can smell i...

Re: Crab has been molting for 4 months
I've got one that has been missing for a good month if not two at this point. I am worried to death. But wouldn't there be that 'smell' if they passed even under the sand??? I keep telling myself since I don't smell anything off, she's just doing her thing. ???

Where are you?
I think one of mine might be molting. But I can't see anywhere in the sand where he may have buried himself. I WILL NOT dig around, but I'm worried. Both my others have changed into new shells but are out and about. Can they get stuck in the sand? I have only changed water bowls and changed food lik...

Would yall suggest changing around the crabitat here and there? Like just to make it different or 'keep them on their toes" lol
And along the same lines how often do you do a deep clean, and do you remove the crabs temp while you clean?
