Re: Crab has been molting for 4 months

Np. [emoji846] There's a member on here that adopted some crabs from someone else a while back. I think it was 6 weeks later, the people that gave up their crabs contacted the HCA member that they found another one of their crabs roaming around in the basement. You'd be surprised how tough these li...

Re: Crab has been molting for 4 months

I had a small crab go missing for 7 weeks when I first rescued her, then she reappeared. When they are new, they may not only go under to molt, but to destress for a bit. I've had crabs pass under the sand and I never smelled anything. It's usually when they are topside and pass that we can smell i...

Re: Crab has been molting for 4 months

I've got one that has been missing for a good month if not two at this point. I am worried to death. But wouldn't there be that 'smell' if they passed even under the sand??? I keep telling myself since I don't smell anything off, she's just doing her thing. ???

Where are you?

I think one of mine might be molting. But I can't see anywhere in the sand where he may have buried himself. I WILL NOT dig around, but I'm worried. Both my others have changed into new shells but are out and about. Can they get stuck in the sand? I have only changed water bowls and changed food lik...

Crabitat Changes

Would yall suggest changing around the crabitat here and there? Like just to make it different or 'keep them on their toes" lol

And along the same lines how often do you do a deep clean, and do you remove the crabs temp while you clean?

I have since found all three.

I don't have glass on this new one yet, just plexiglass now secured. The brown and white shell emurged and has since changed shells and now I have two in green shells, so I don't know who is who lol

Ok then I think I will just add some sand. This makes me feel better.

Thanks again so much for all your help. New crab mom and want to do the best for them. I do love them, they are so fun, but boy are these two new ones messy lol

But I have to wait to find the one. He’s the only one who seems to ‘hide’ and I noticed this morning he changed shells.

Re: White Fine Cotton Looking Stuff

Ok awesome. Wasn’t sure what to soak it in. I’ve arranged their smaller tank for a temp holding area while I clean up this larger tank. I think I have too much eco vs sand. Is that too much stress on them to move them? The smaller is the correct ratio and only temp to correct this one and clean. May...

Re: White Fine Cotton Looking Stuff

But it's on the bottom of the climbing mat in the corner too. I am thinking I didn't do the substrate correct. Is it safe to move them back to small tank so I can get that corrected? BUT - since I can't find the one, I am worried he's buried and don't want to bother him. Lord these little guys are s...
