Can hermit crabs hear my sound machine?
Can hermit crabs hear or perceive the sounds coming from my sound machine? I just got one and I use the ocean waves. Would it help them if I kept it on 24/7? Just wondering.

Re: Moving to a new home but 2 crabs are underground
You are amazing, CurlySister. Thank you so much for all your help! 💕 He has moved and even burrowed a little bit into the small mound of substrate inside the Tupperware, but I think I’ll wait a little while longer to release him into gen pop. The other one is suddenly a lot more active than before t...

Re: Moving to a new home but 2 crabs are underground
An update! And also I wanted to say thank you for the great advice. Long story short, I had a successful move. 😁 I very carefully dug up both hermit crabs, and luckily one looks like he had just finished molting! I started crying at first not realizing what I thought were body parts was just the exo...

Moving to a new home but 2 crabs are underground
I am most likely moving to a new home very soon. Not far, same area. I currently have 2 hermit crabs underground. I don’t really have a choice as I will have to move the tank. My question is — will they be ok? If they’re underground, what if the tunnels collapse? How will I know if they’re even ok a...

Hermit crab not eating much
Hi, new member here! 🤗 I’ve had my hermit crabs for about a month now, but it doesn’t seem like they’re eating enough? I put out new food for them every night (complete meals and foraging mixes from Etsy sellers), but it really doesn’t look like any of it is being eaten. 😞 Are my crabs sick? How muc...

Mopani and cholla wood prep questions
Hi! New crab parent here. 🤗 I bought mopani and cholla wood and am currently boiling them in dechlorinated ocean salt water. My question is… how long do I boil each? Is ten minutes enough for the cholla wood? Is one hour enough for the mopani wood? And then how long should I air dry them for, or sho...

Re: Can anyone help me identify this guy?
Thanks, Joe! It’s so hard to get pics of him in the tank and I don’t want to pick him up bc he’s shy. Here’s a pic of his big claw (I can’t zoom in without it becoming blurry, sorry!): https://ibb.co/4Zsmhf4

Hi, new hermit crab owner here. I’m guessing this guy is a purple pincher, but I’m not sure. Can anyone please help me identify him? Thanks!
