Re: When to let crab back into main tank?

Yay for him surviving! I'd recommend things that are considered high in energy, such as honey! It'll help him get more energy to move around! I've also heard of adding the sea salt mix you use for the sea water (instant ocean) to help with minerals. Giving lots of protein and calcium is very importa...

Re: Home made leaf litter

Thank you very much!
Do you have any idea if crab apple leaves/branches/bark is safe for them? I have one I'm my back yard and would love to give them even more variety!
Or even leaves from a tree that gives baby pears?
(It's a dwarf clapper pear tree I believe!)

Re: Naked crab

Include honey and some blood worms if you have them, mine love them. If possible spray the food with some safe water near him, if possible in the coconut hut

Home made leaf litter

Hello all! So I've been wanting to forage my own leaf litter because sadly shipping from the USA is super expensive! I was wondering about some things that I have in our yard! Such as crab apple leaves/bark? We've had it for years and os pesticide free! Also, what about rose leaves and or dandelion ...

Re: Naked crab

Put a coffee cup with him and some shells under it to encourage him to pick a shell, as well as some honey in a bottle cap for energy There's a chance that he maybe didn't fully molt and or the friend maybe didn't fully care for peanut (not an accusation, just an observation!!!) Hermit crabs drop th...

Re: diy waterfall?

Of course! I'm not fully sure, I just use this small 5 gallon one from Amazon, here's the link, https://www.amazon.ca/NICREW-Aquarium-Submersible-Adjustable-Waterflow/dp/B08TLK2XXD/ref=mp_s_a_1_4_maf_2?crid=MD14G019ZPNJ&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.bjnHsJQLT86w3jUGPk3aPCwKUW1WPXWnPRpOrO8lwZWYsmH3xdwkcUlZo3GYnv4...

Re: diy waterfall?

I'd recommend silicone! You can buy tubes of it fairly cheap almost anywhere, just make sure it's aquarium grade, and you might want to let it dry off outside the tank as it gives off fumes, as well as won't stick as well in the humidity in the tank! There are rocks with three holes that my crabs L...

Crab chirping for no reason

Hello So I adopted two hermit crabs from someone about 3 months back, they came from worse then pet store conditions, but both have recovered! (Yay! :cheer: ) Now the issues. After molting in a 55 gallon tank, there was some aggression from sangria (san), so she and her buddy Tyrian were moved to an...

Re: Refusing to molt

Thank you! I adopted him from someone else who had him for a few years, but unfortunately don't know the conditions or how often he molted! Another thing I'm worried about is that he was down molting for 3 weeks, but has been up for almost 3 months, and from my other hermit crabs molting, he's not d...

Refusing to molt

Hey all again! As it says, I have .m big guy (crimson!) Who's had 2 successful molts with me over the 7 months I've had him! (He's a jumbo) But this time he's showing super clear signs of molting, super dusty exo, he's even washed it off sort of a few times taking a bath, and eating lots! Usually th...

Sounds good, thank you! I currently do have some decorations for her to hide in, should I remove them to try and encourage her to eat more? She's mostly been hiding in one as mentioned above

PPS fail?

Hello all! I recently got some hermit crabs from kijiji, (as I have all of my crabs), and had put them in a PPDS 5 gal to acclimate them to proper temps as I don't know the conditions they came in. There were 2, midnight and mulberry, midnight was eating great, swimming and drinking, digging in the ...

Re: Limp antennae / broken antennae

The antenna broke off as soon as I put her in the big tank with crimson, like within a few hours, she has the thicker part closer to her body and seems to be able to wiggle that around. She has been a bit of a uhm....pain? to crim by following him and wanting to go to the food if he was at the food ...
