Re: What temperature should I set my heat pad to?
Originally the thermometer was closer to the heat pad, but now it is in the middle and reading 67 Fahrenheit! I will bump it up to 85 while I wait for a response and then follow instructions. Thank you for helping me!

Re: Got my first crab a few months ago and new one a week ago, any tips?
So the next day I have now put a chopstick down again and it did not collapse at all, even to the very bottom! So now I am sure my crabs will not be forced to attempt a surface molt. Thanks for all the help!:)

Crab cleaning himself?

And tonight I was watching him in his water dish when he started to clean himself I think?( that is what it looked like) it kinda looked like ...

Re: What temperature should I set my heat pad to?
The temp inside the tank right now is 71 Fahrenheit and it looks like it might be steadily increasing? The outside temp is probably 58-68 Fahrenheit (I don't have a way to measure outside temp but I am pretty sure it is in this range). Do thermometers need to be calibrated? I know hygrometers do nee...

Re: Ongoing issue with keeping sand moist?
I have heard that it is normal for the top layer of substrate to be dry and the rest to be moist. Maybe you should spray it a little? I am fairly new to crabbing and only have a 10 gal though, so maybe wait for someone more experienced to come along.

I have made good progress and I can see that the "wetness" has almost reached the bottom! However, I think I might have stressed Zote out, because I was spraying him directly in the face. I have moved him so that he is not getting sprayed now.

Types in moss in my yard safe or not?
Hello! I have some questions about some types of moss that I have in my yard that could be safe for crabitat use. The first species is "Entodon seductrix" ( this is what google says at least). The second species is "Dicranum scoparium". I also have a question about Japanese Maple tree leaves in my P...

I did the chopstick method and all the sand poured in. (Except under the freshwater bowl) I sprayed a lot of my water bottle out, and looked around the edges, but it had barely made a dent! I guess I have a lot of work to do!

Re: What temperature should I set my heat pad to?
I don't have the temperature right now because I accidentally made the mistake of directly spraying the acurite hygrometer/ thermometer which broke the thermometer but I have ordered a new one and it should be here tomorrow, so I will update on the temperature!

What temperature should I set my heat pad to?
Hello everyone! I have a heat pad where you can adjust the temperature it gives out, so I was wondering what temperature I should set it to to keep the tank warn. I have a 10 gallon and the heater is on the side. Thank you!

Crabs aren't climbing and have not tried to escape, should I be worried?
Hi. I don't know if this is a dumb question or not, but I am fairly new and I don't know if I should be worried. My crab that is a few months old (Zote) used to climb on some things like a spider plant (before it died lol) and some wood pieces. For some reason though, he kinda stopped climbing...

Re: Hasn’t eaten anything in a month
Hi, I have noticed some things that could be the reasoning why he hasn't eaten In a while. First of all, the pellets you are feeding your crab can actually be toxic for them, and you should be feeding your crab some organic fruits and vegetables. You can check out the safe food list here on the foru...
