Re: Another Upgrade… 300 gallons!

Nope! Crabs can be submerged for quite some time. I've seen about an hour or two.

Another Upgrade… 300 gallons!

Hello everyone! It seems every two years or so I get the bug to upgrade the tank. I really thought the 125g was going to be as big as my crabitat got, but here we are. I was always incredibly nervous to do a topper, but finally decided to make the leap of faith. I obtained another 125 gallon and an ...

Re: 2 Hermit crabs in need of a new home

My grandson has 2 hermit crabs, 1 large, 1 medium. We are looking for a loving new home for them. We were naive when purchasing them and then thru Hermit Crab Central we learned so much and have tried to give them a healthy habitat, however we fear they still could thrive better with someone who re...

Another clean of my 125g

I have been wanting to add some new stuff I’ve gotten for my crabs for a couple weeks, and finally I counted all crabs up this afternoon! Here’s a few photos of how it turned out. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210907/b4b6d8afdbe1adb0b72b39a34c605a5a.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210907...

Re: Potential New Owner! (with some questions)

Hey there! Welcome to the HCA, we're happy to have you! Crabs are so interesting and now you know how easy it is to get attached to them. As you mentioned, screen lids are pretty debated, but in my years of crabbing, I never had good luck with them. Like you, I also live in Florida, but I also have ...

Re: Large Indo is back!

So cute!

I am so jealous of everyone - where does everyone find their exotics? I have NOTHING but purple pinchers down here in South Florida... I love them, but I really would like some variety! I've been holding off getting anymore for my 125 gallon until I find a new species or two.

Re: 125 gallon clean out

Thank you! We have 9 in the tank.

The water has an underwater filter, so thankfully maintaining the 5 gallon tanks are quite easy and manageable.

125 gallon clean out

Did my semi-annual clean out of the 125 gallon today and took some pics of the updated look. I added some moss backgrounds which really complete the look. I finally gave up on shower caddy moss pits. I can’t stand trying to reattach them to the tank walls 3 times a day [emoji1787] https://uploads.ta...

Re: Moved - 125g tank with new filtered pools!

Ok, thanks. I didn't realize you could get the uth so large. I've got my current uth set up on a controller as well. It's great at stabilizing temps. Sent from my LM-K920 using Tapatalk Yes! I have two of these bad boys and they work wonderfully! https://www.chewy.com/zoo-med-reptitherm-under-tank-...

Re: Moved - 125g tank with new filtered pools!

It looks amazing! What are you using to heat that? I'm thinking about upgrading to that size but worry about being able to heat it properly. Sent from my LM-K920 using Tapatalk I have two reptile under tank heaters that are stuck to the back of the tank. These are also automated to heat the tank to...

125 gallon with Philips Hue - Automated sunrise/sunset

So as the title says, I got an idea to buy a light strip from Philips Hue and attach it to the hood of my 125 gallon crabitat. Here’s some photos of how I installed it, I had to make a couple modifications to the hood with a drill to keep them flush with the tank. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20...
