Crabs loving cypress driftwood
Just wanted to give a "heads up" on the cypress driftwood from http://www.blackjungle.com. Julia Crab had recommended it, and I bought some a couple of weeks ago and the crabs have not left it alone! I went to check on them and there were 4 draped over the top of the driftwood right now. And it's not molding at all. I'm going to order some more pieces soon. The driftwood is slightly on the expensive side, but well worth the price.

Hmmm, I might have to get some of this! Wood is always popular in my tank, and we haven't had any new wood in quite some time. I see that Black Jungle has mini corkbark tubes -- are these new? Though I don't think I will be allowed to have them anyhow. I have a large tube, and my crabs LOVE it: But my husband is always worried that crabs will get stuck in it (it will open or close a bit with the humidity) and he forbid me to get another. The crabs and I are lucky that he lets us use the one we have!

Wow... you have a husband who CARES about the well being of your crabs!! Way to go, hubby!I cant find the cypress driftwood, can someone point me in the right direction please? Maybe Im just blind.Edit: Nevermind, I found it... under "woods for wet habitats". What about that "Ghost Wood"? Ive never heard of it, but I bet my crabs would LOVE to eat fresh moss if I could get it to grow. Thanks for this site info.

moire_eel, I know what you mean about the mini-corkbark tubes. I had a crab get trapped inside a piece of cholla and it was very difficult to get her back out. But those big corkbark tubes are great! Cute pic of your hermies too.The Ghost Wood might be a purchase for next time.

I ordered the mini tubes and one medium size cork tube. I was really glad that the tubes weren't mini, I think that in comparison to the medium tube they were only a little bit smaller. The other thing I liked was that they were all sliced through one side to allow for expansion and to get crabbies out. To clean them I boiled them in salt water and then tied them with some elastic to keep the tube shape. I also baked them for a few minutes and then let them air dry with the elastic on.What about the other woods they have for wet habitats, the Swahala and the Malaysian Driftwood? The Ghost wood sounds really interesting too because of the moss growth, it would probably be good for the crabs to munch on.
