I use the Zoo Med Hermit Crab Drinking Water Conditioner Part 1 for fresh water. I use the Zoo Med Hermit Crab Salt Water Conditioner Part 2 for the (obviously) salt water. Both solutions came in a kit that I got from Pet Smart so I don't actually know the cost of each individual bottle. I can tell you that they seem very cost effective as you only need 2 drops of fresh water conditioner per cup of water...and 1 tsp. of salt water conditioner per cup of water. I personally like working in the smaller amounts since I am a bit overwhelmed at the idea of preparing a galllon of water or even having to figure the break down amounts.

I use reptisafe from zoomed, you can find it at petco and at petdiscounters online. I just bought some from pet discounters the other day it was 3.99 for a 4.25 ounce bottle. I liked it because it was made specifically for reptiles. You can get the smaller bottle which is 2.25 ounces (that's what I had before) and if you make a 2 gallons of water, salt and freash, each week it will still last over a year. You add 2 drops per 8oz of water, so for a gallon of water, 32 oz you use 8 drops.

Whatever brand you choose, it should detoxify heavy metals as well as remove chlorine and break the chloramine bond. I use Tap Water Conditioner by Aquarium Pharmaceuticals. I purchased it from PetsMart.perrylc - Since you are using Zoo Med Salt Water Conditioner, you might want to read this:My "scientific" salt water findings My "scientific" salt water findings

So you'd use 8 drops to a quart of water and 32 drops per gallon. Sorry, I couldn't let that one pass
