Ceramic Heat Fixture
Ceramic Heat Fixture
I have decided that a 100watt ceramic heat bulb would probably be best for my 39-gallon tank. I have read that you cannot put them directly into the tank(for obvious burning-related reasons). I have a flourescent light strip and a black(plastic?) lid. How would I go about setting up a ceramic heat lamp so that I wouldn't lose humidity?JJHermit

Ceramic Heat Fixture
You will need one of the metal reflecting light fixtures they sell in the reptile section of pet stores. Then you'll need to affix this fixture (usually it's clamp-style) somewhere above the crab tank aimed down into it. Adjust the distance to get the proper heat, and adjust substrate moisture and lid propping to retain humidity. I wouldn't put 100w emitter closer than 2 inches from the lid or plastic might melt.
