Spanish Moss and Decorative Moss Unsafe?

Post by JediMasterThrash » Tue Nov 07, 2006 9:04 am

I mention Spanish moss in my new care sheet and checklist. Basically, most spanish moss I've come across is actually colored pine shavings, and not actually moss. It is purely decorative, and dangerous for hermits.

Spanish Moss and Decorative Moss Unsafe?

I'd be suspicious if it says "decorative moss", but who knows since it said "natural" too. Basically, if it looks like thin fibers all bunched up, it's probably the colored pine shavings. Real moss will look like plants. It should still be greenish for one thing, and will have more body and texture to it.Read all the fine print on the package and see if you can find anything.
