New filtered salt water pool.

Post by Crabber85 » Fri Jul 12, 2013 12:06 pm

I just did my water change-outs today and upgraded my salt water pool from a 12 inch plastic flower pot basin to a plastic 1 gallon ice cream container fully equipped with an internal filter kit rated for up to a ten gallon aquarium to create a waterfall and filter the water.I'll attach a pic of the new pool and filter for you guys and gals.

I've got the electrical cord secured so the crabs cant nip the wire and shock themselves.lol

So far only one of my more adventurous E's Lenard has decided to check out the new pool but after a week or so the rest of my cast will come around.lolLenard was crawling all over the filter unit which is the reason the electrical cord needed to be hidden and he explored the whole setup for about thirty minutes before getting bored.

Looks like fun! I got something that looks like that for my cats and they love it, so I'm sure the crabs will too Is that like a turtle filter?

@JMT, yep thats a whisper 5-10i I believe which doubles as a turtle filter and has the ability to work in water as shallow as 2 inches. I've got a larger version of this filter kit rated for twenty gallons I tried it out earlier and the fall lip on it sticks out to far so it was actually dumping the water out the other side of the pool.lolAnd yes I tested using the sink in the restroom to catch the water.I may at some point upgrade to a much large pool but until then the smaller filter will have to work.

Turtle filters are usually good power/quality because they're designed to filter a ton of "poop". I've had turtles before and man do they make big poop and it turns the water into a backed-up toilet within 24 hours without a good filter.
