Silk Plant Preparation

Post by Guest » Sun Aug 28, 2005 7:08 am

I just purchased what I hope are suitable silk plants for the crabitat. Is there anything special that I should do before I put them in the tank?I researched in the archives for plant prep. but couldn't seem to find what I was looking for. Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks,Lori

I doubt silk plants would be harmful. The only thing I have ever done with fake plants is boil water then take it off the stove and dip the plants in it for a quick sterilization. Probably not necessary, but something you could do if you want to be extra cautious.

I just rinse them under hot tap water and let them dry thoroughly. I tried to dip a silk plant with long flat leaves in boiling water once ... that plant is now very curly.
