Temperature - once and for all!

I've moved my tank out of the high-traffic kitchen, which I hope will help with destressing, but then it got down to 71 degrees (as measured by a digital thermo-hygrometer about 3 inches from the bottom). I use two UTHs under a 10-gallon tank. My husband insulated the tank and put a moon light on the side, and it's now up to 78 degrees. I read on a recent post (can't remember by whom) that actually temps in the 70s are too low - the crabs should really be in a habitat more like the 80s of their wild homes. So should I leave it around 78-80 by the thermometer (assuming it's warmer under the substrate), or turn off the light and stick with the insulated UTH heat?
