Baking EE
As some of you may know, I've got mites (or some kinda ANNOYING little bug). Today I am deep cleaning the tank. I was wondering if I baked the EE then add a little more water after, if that would kill the bugs and still alow me to reuse it. I'd hate to hafta throw it away- it's 3/4 of a block and I've only used it for a few weeks. Hope someone can help me here.P.S. How can I clean my tank? If I used paper towels and a viniger-water mixture, would that kill any bugs? Or should I stop being lazy and take it outside to squirt it with the hose? LOL!

You can bake the EE at 300 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.. depending on how long it takes it to dry out. You will have to keep a close eye on it that you dont let it get to dry and then start to burn. You will need to stir it every 5 minutes to make sure and get it all dried out. When you go to reuse it, use boiling salt water. The boiling will kill any mites, if they didnt get killed before and the salt water will help to keep them away.Yes, you can use the vinegar water mix to clean the tank. Then make sure nad use just a wet paper towel to clean it again and to get the vinegar smell out.
