Habba Hut Log Unsafe For Crab Use

Post by Guest » Sat Oct 03, 2009 8:26 am

So I bought this half log hidey thing from Petco because some of my crabs are too big for the coco hut but I remember someone saying that pine was bad for crabs and it LOOKED like pine so i took it out. I Emailed the company because nowhere on the label did it say what type of wood it was. Turns out it isnt pine it is CEDAR which is apparently even worse for crabs! This log was IN the Hermit Crab section!!!! Here is the email I got from Zoomed, just an FYI because I know alot of our members use them...Hello,Thank you for contacting us and for you interest in our products. The Habba hut is made of low elevation non aromatic cedar. Please let me know if you have any further questions.Kind Regards,Ashley RademacherCustomer ServiceZoo Med Labs, Inc.3650 Sacramento Dr.San Luis Obispo CA 93401Toll Free 888-496-6633Fax 805-542-9295

I was the person who told you about these. Every time I see a picture with one of these in, I advise to quickly remove. I first found out they were coniferous when I microwaved one to sterilize and piney sap leeched out. Please anyone with these remove ASAP.
