What about aluminum?
I know crabs don't really like metal.... what about aluminum? I just bought a piece of flexible aluminum duct and was wondering if the crabs could tolerate it or not....Thanks

I would say no to the aluminum. It can oxidize, even if it's not as much as some metals do. And isn't aluminum what you're supposed to avoid in cooking pots for human food because trace amounts of aluminum are found in the brains of people with Alzheimers?

I think I would avoid using aluminum in the crabitat, as much as crabs like to chew on things, they'd eventually chew thru any sort of coating you put on it (and the coating itsself might wind up being toxic). Flexible pvc sewer pipe (usually 3 inches or so in diameter, flexible, looks sort of like an accordian) would probably work well, you can bend it into a "u" shape to connect your tanks, and the ridges would provide traction for adventurous crabs. Plus, they might decide they liked the tunnel as a hiding spot since it'd be dark in there. And that pipe should be pretty inexpensive.
