Re-attaching a UTH tip.

If you're ever in the need to re-attach your UTH, for instance if you're upgrading to a larger tank, you can use a metal foil type tape that is used for taping duct work together. It's bright shiney silver and has a removeable backing and you can find it at any Home Depot type store. The stuff holds a UTH great and plus being foil it helps to reflect the heat up into the tank.

Not duct tape? That's what I used. Those UTH's don't stick well at all.

It has a paper backing on the sticky side that you peel off and once you stick this stuff in place it does not come off. I've had two 20 gallon UTHs taped on my 55 gallon tank for months with it and they show no sign of coming off. I actually cover the whole UTH with the tape since it's metal I feel it helps to hold in and even reflect the heat back up into the tank.
