Did you purchase the log and coco hut with the crab or did you already have them?

If the log is wood you can bake it in the oven @250 degrees for thirty minutes to kill the mold and sterilize it.Soak the wood in dechlorinated water for an hour to give a buffer against premature ignition. The coco hut can be boiled if it isn't painted if it is you might as well throw it out as the paint isn't safe.

this was a great suggestion, I wondered if the wooden logs were the source. Thanks

i dont think i was the logs, as the mold was in the sand/ee mix and it seemed like the mix was mostly ee and they had a humidifier ment for a 20-30g tank on it.

I'll wet my wooden stuff and then nuke it for 2 minutes. Kills everything and also partially dries it out. Plus it's quick and doesn't stink up the house. There's no smell like baked crab noodles!

Eeewwww, lol. I've got some nice medium sized branches from an untreated oak in my yard and I was wondering if I can do the same thing and then use them in the tank? I want a lot more natural stuff and greenery but I prefer real to fake. I also don't want to loose the ability to see in the tank and check them out :/
