Playsand?

My husband picked up playsand for me and it is different than what I have gotten in the past. It's white and feels like coarse salt. It seems thicker and grittier than what I've gotten in the past. The label says clean, etc.Thought?Thanks,Peg

Play sands comes in different grain sizes and not all brands are created equal so you have to watch for coarseness, smell and foreign debris.If you can feel pain by rubbing the sand against the palm of your hand then that is a good indicator that it's too coarse and it may in fact damage a soft molter.Check the odor good clean play sand wont smell or it will have a slightly sweet smell but if it smells oily or chemically then I'd toss it.

It smells fine, I am particularly odor sensitive. No foreign objects, seems really clean. It packs REALLY well but its texture is more like coarse sea salt than sand. So rub it in my hand but how can I tell if it is too coarse for use? It feels like coarse sea salt which doesn't really hurt but will exfoliate nicely.

If it's too course it will feel like your rubbing sand paper over your palm as it would be the same size grit/grain.

How do you guys feel about Home Depot play sand? Have you had any problems in the past with Home Depot sand?

Home Depot is where we've gotten playsand both the one I got that I like and the one my husband got that I'm not sure about.Peg

Hi Jenny. I saw the Facebook friend request before I saw this so declined it since I had no idea who you were. Thanks for the name of the sand, I'll check. I'm pretty sure the quickrite is what I got the first time. I'm not sure what my husband got more recently other than it is playsand and not like what I got the last time.Peg
