Venus Fly Traps?

Post by Mikau132 » Mon Jul 22, 2013 10:16 am

Can you have venus fly traps in the 'tat? I think they would help with any bad mites.

Venus Fly Traps?

A quote from a blog regarding carnivorous plants in the 'tat: I filled in Peter of California Carnivores with some details about crabitats, and he said "Unfortunately there aren't many if any plants I can recommend for hermit crab habitats, mostly because it's too warm and most CP (carnivorous plants) need cold winters or cool nights. None will catch pests except perhaps fungus gnats (some sundews). Also light levels will need to be very high."Sounds like they won't like the constant heat and also won't catch the smaller bugs like mites.

We don't recommend using vase plants such as the Venus Fly Trap because you can't keep them alive they are relatively ineffective and pose a threat to small crabs.
