Last year I didn't feel like my UTH was heating the tank properly so I was about to buy a second UTH. My hubby looked at it and said that a lot of the heat escapes from the backside of it,so he went to the hardware store and bought a foot of insulation for $2. it looks like bubblewrap wrapped in foil...we attached it to the backside of the UTH letting it only air on 1 side (attached with electrical tape). The temperature raise from 72-74 to 78-80 degress and it kept it nice and toasty in there for them.I just plugged in mu UTH in today since it's finally starting to get cooler and as soon as it gets colder I'll be doing this again. And no worries, the UTH didn't get overheated or anything like that.here's a picture of the backside of my 29gl
