RAPID CITY, SD
Hello. I joined this group to seek out advice. My daughter rescued a hermit crab from some children who won him(her?) at a fair and were not taking good care of him. We have a temporary habitat set up. But we want him to go to a home with people who know how to properly care for him and have a nice habitat like he deserves. We are in Rapid City, South Dakota. Does anybody know of anyone in this area who might want to adopt him? Thank you so much!

Unless you're ok being the new crab caretaker, you need to be willing to ship (time is running out on this option with cold weather coming), or find a local pet store that sells purple pinchers & is willing to add your neglected PP to it's crab cast.
Fyi, shipping isn't difficult (there's instructions on this website) & costs between $7 or $8 for flat rate USPS (usually takes no more than three days) & whatever USPS/FedEx charges for next day delivery (surely over $30).
If you're willing to ship, please LMK ASAP, as we have plenty of space available in our upgraded & nicely setup crabitat with a trio of active PP's who'd welcome a new buddy.
Very soon it will be too cold to ship or even drive around with a purple pincher, so act quickly.

Please respond to inquiries.... & also update your post once your neglected crab has been rehomed.

Any pet store I've ever been to does not accept animal surrenders.AiFoto wrote:Unless you're ok being the new crab caretaker, you need to be willing to ship (time is running out on this option with cold weather coming), or find a local pet store that sells purple pinchers & is willing to add your neglected PP to it's crab cast.

Also, I would not ship a crab with any service that takes 3 days or more. That's something you would want to use the fastest possible method (like overnight since it's a live animal). Personally, I don't like the idea of shipping a live crab, but that's just me.
