Concord, CA Looking to re-home very large PP crab

Post by Jessgadget » Sat Oct 19, 2024 7:34 pm

I’m sad to do this but think it’s time. I have a very large (and old) crab I am looking to re-home. I want to take the time to find him (or her) the right place. My crabby is over 10 years old. I don’t know the exact age anymore honestly. Maybe 12. He's a PP in a shell that is about 2” large with a 3/4” opening. I am looking to re-home to the right person with a tank large enough and proper set up. I have a tank however I am hoping to re-home to someone who has a larger tank with other crabs similar in size. Crabbies are social and typically want company despite the name. They would need to be similar in size to avoid any aggression.

Recently my other crab (which was even larger and older) passed and now my crabby is alone. I don’t have the time I once did to devote to him either. I’m in Concord CA. I do have bigger shells to go with him.

If interested please reach out and let me know about your set up. I can also send you crabby pics.

Thanks!

Hi there! I see your post has been up for a couple months so I don’t know if you’re still needing a home for your crab. I live in Marin County and I have a single PP crab, Tim. He came to me with a buddy, Mango, but Mango never came up from his first molt with me 😞. Tim has successfully molted twice since I got him in February 2022. I’m not sure how old he is - I got him from someone giving him away on Facebook, and they had gotten him from Petco about a year prior. He has grown a bit since I’ve gotten him. His current shell’s opening is about an inch across. I just transitioned him into a 40 gallon tank with the intention of having enough space to get him a friend. The temp and humidity are stable, and he gets different fruits, veggies, and protein daily, along with dry complete diets. No mites or any other health issues that I can see. I’m still adding to the tank set up - I want to add another climbing wall and a wheel, but Tim currently has a cork log that he loves, and lots of driftwood and a woven mat to climb around on. And of course fresh and salt water. I’m happy to send photos of him and the tank set up if you think this might be a good fit.
