I have been fascinated with hermit crabs since I was a child. I started to research their care several months ago through facebook groups and forums. I have various reptiles, amphibians, fish and furry friends. I have been working on a 120g for a group of hermits. I was lucky enough to find 2 PP hermits locally that were being rehomed by their owner. They came with their enclosure which was great and has allowed me to make sure the large tank is stable and ready.

The 120 has 8" of substrate consisting of 5 parts play sand and 1 part coco coir. They have a fresh water pool and a salt water pool made with instant ocean, both dechlorinated with prime. The pools are large enough for even a large crab to submerge and they have grids to climb out. There is a large and medium running wheel. The entire back wall is climbing grass. They have lots to climb on, hides, a shell shop, and heat and humidity holding steady at 80-81 for both. Clutter everywhere and lots of surface space for digging. I have leaf litter to add but was waiting until I was sure temps and humidities are stable.

They eat fresh foods including greens, veggies and fruit. I get whole food mixes and treats from Etsy shops. They have worm castings, greensand and calcium at all times. They get lots of protein from the mixes, but I also add mealworms, black soldier fly larvae, seafood, and I'm always adding more variety.

I am hoping to find several PP in the Birmingham and surrounding areas. Willing to travel within 100 miles. Also willing to pay for shipping. I haven't moved the rescue crabs to the new enclosure yet because I want them to be settled and would like to find friends so they can all go in at the same time. Their rescue tank is basic but stable and will serve as a quarantine/hospital tank for emergencies. The 120 has been stable for 3 weeks. Happy to send pics of the rescues and the big tank. Please communicate via email at wprince81@gmail.com with subject CRABS if you have crabs available. Thank you!
