Where to shop in/near Palm Springs, Cali

Post by curlysister » Fri Dec 29, 2017 9:42 pm

I live in Canada, but will be on vacation in the Palm Springs area in January. I need an under tank heater, and some large shells. I also need food but have had good luck ordering that online. Any suggestions where to shop? Thanks in advance!

Here's what I know: Palm Springs is in the middle of nowhere in the desert and is an affluent resort town. They do have a Petco so you could find a heater there, although they will likely (95% sure) be the insulated Zoomed or similar kind. Neither Petco or Petsmart sell the uninsulated ultratherm type in store. As far as large shells go... that will be tougher. Shells sold as L-XL at Petco or Petsmart are laughably small. My only advice is to check out second hand stores (I have found shells and coral in such places in Arizona) or, you never know, they could have a shell shop. In my experience, though, shell stores are in coastal towns in high touristy areas like wharfs or piers. If you're planning on taking the ~1.5-2 hour drive to the ocean, you'll have way better luck over there. I don't know of any specific places though, unfortunately. The majority of my time in Southern California was in my pre-hermit crab era lol so I didn't pay attention to that sort of stuff.

LOL, you forgot to add that PSP is an affluent resort town in the middle of nowhere, where everyone goes to bed by 9pm! Hahaha. I decided that I would order some stuff online, and have it delivered to where I am staying (I live in Canada, and shipping to the US is free or cheaper from the places I ordered). Thank you for the reply!

You are living the dream. Sigh. I've got the "gotta ship shells blues".
