IF... Oh Parrothead, I know how you feel. Thanks for the tips. Do you plan on ISO-ing your LHC order or putting them in your main tat?parrothead wrote:I added a liter of mites to my 75 gallon. They only come in 1 liter or 2 liter bottles at the site I ordered from. I simply sprinkled the contents directly onto my substrate and they took care of my 'wood mite' infestation in a week or so. I noticed them for about 3 months, but don't think they are there anymore (not sure why, lack of critters to eat I suppose). I will be adding more when and IF my shipment comes in from LHC

Thanks for your input and experience! Much appreciated!kuza wrote:
So if you buy new crabs, and have an ISO where they can't fully bury themselves, then having them for a couple weeks with a liter of predatory mites should clear up any wild mites you have. You can also use half in the ISO and put half in your main tank and when you transfer them in 2 weeks there will still be some super hungry pred mites in the main tank for a just in case.
In fact, if I spend a lot of money from crabs from LHC.com I would get preds ordered ready for when they arrive. Then iso the crabs with the preds for 3 weeks then put them in the main tank. Then if any molters go down right away, wait 2-3 weeks and order another round of preds to use in your main tank for when those first molters come up. They could have had mites hiding under the gills, etc..

Parrothead. Are you going to ISO your crabs from LHC or put them in with the main community and order H. Miles?

Re: LiveHermitCrabs.com
hmmm, not sure. Kinda depends on the quality of the crabs. If they appear mite free and healthy, I'll drop 'em in with the fam. If not, I will prob ISO. I'm going to Iso mine and then see. My last shipment from her was luckily mite free. its probably too much to hope this one will be too.

Just got a refund for the difference between the Straws and Violas. Guess that means things are on the move.

Re: LiveHermitCrabs.com
Yeah, she told me that she'd start shipping the week of the 8th
Re: LiveHermitCrabs.com
Yeah I got an email over the weekend saying shipment starts on Monday the 8th.
You said it didn't bite!.........Well..........It didn't bite me.
Re: LiveHermitCrabs.com
Has anyone gotten a shipping update? Last time I ordered, my email came through the Thursday before the week they shipped. I didn't get any word this week. I'm feeling discouraged because I start a new position at work on the 15th and I won't be able to be home for them upon delivery. I might have to inquire about delivering to my parents house or cancel.
