What is the best food to buy online?

Post by parker_roo » Wed Nov 05, 2014 10:26 pm

Hey, I was wondering, if you guys had any good experiences or favorite places to buy hermit crab food online. Which store would you say is the best quality or price? If you have a response, please leave the link to the website to buy the food from. Thank you!

I have ordered a few times from the hermit crab patch and have always been very pleased. As have my crabs! The surf and turf is awesome as are the mineral supplements. I would highly recommend getting their beginner or combo packs because you get a little of everything.

Etsy! I take out the fresh food I put in at night in the morning and replace it with a mix of https://www.etsy.com/listing/197429938/ ... -sample-of

And this:
https://www.etsy.com/shop/Crabotanicals

Because I'm not able to get him as much foliage fresh as Id like. The first links got the nicest balance for nutrition I've ever seen!

I just mix in something from the second link with the first to keep up the variety.

I wouldn't be so gung ho to buy commercial crab food though. From what I've read more often than not it's usually not safe for the crabs.

Also! Check the HCA shopping links as well! I'm sure you'll find something your crabs will love! Image

Thank you guys so much! I do not have as much time as I'd like to buy and prepare food for my crabs. I do stay away from commercial foods, but I am sure my crabs are getting a little tired of having the same food every other day. So thanks again, I will definitely check out all of these links!

Don't forget that they can eat some of the same stuff that we do! When I'm cooking dinner or someone else in my family is we set a veggy or a meat aside for the crabs before we add anything to it. We also tend to keep a lot of fruit in my house so my crabs usually have two bowls. One with dry foods-every day or two I add another ingredient to the mix that's in there and clean out the dish when it starts to look gross. And the other bowl holds fresh fruit or a veggy or peanut butter and honey. I try to switch up stuff and use what we have in the house so I'm not breaking the bank. And if you have something like unsalted peanuts just think how long one little container will last!? I mean you only give them like 2-3 peanuts a night. (I usually crush mine lol) thrifty is my way of life!

Actually in the picture on the bags it tells you. If you're mobile tap to zoom or, if that doesn't work:

They might be out of order, but you should be able to see them now! Image

Hey, so I decided to try the sample of each diet from the etsy store, TheHappyHermitSupply, recommended by Drakezilla. I ordered it on Sunday, and surprisingly I have not received it yet. I saw all the great reviews about it arriving quickly, but my order has exceeded its estimated shipping date. But I will give you guys an update after I receive the food, and feed it to my crabs.

I think the owner is a member here if that helps. It took mine about a week, I think. Good luck! I hope they like it!

Hey, sorry it has been forever since I replied to this topic. But any way, I did buy the sample of each diet from TheHappyHermitSupply, on Etsy. I have been feeding my crabs this food for about a month now, and they don't touch it! For some reason, they won't eat it. I change up the variety every day, and if they do eat any of it, it is not much. I don't know if they just like the fresh fruit/veggies that I give them more than the food from Etsy. But I have continued to feed them this food (from Etsy), because there is a good amount of it, and I need to use it. Has anyone else had your crabs dislike the homemade food that you have bought online? They just eat the food I make for them. Maybe they just like the fresh stuff. But I'm sure this seller has great food for crabs, my crabs just don't like it.

How big are your crabs? You have to remember they're not like dogs, they won't always consume a noticeable amount. They're tiny! How long are you leaving it in the tank?
